Looking for a stock NA-NB Miata 5 speed shifter assy

Post by breakaway500 » Thu Jul 21, 2016 6:07 pm

Anyone got a stock 5 speed shifter they would like to part with? A Miata I'm working on has a 6 speed shifter in a 5 speed box and talk about sloppy... Thanks. Mark

It's not just bad/missing bushings..the actual shifter is quite different between a (Mazdaspeed) Miata 6 speed and a stock Miata 5 speed unit. The 6 speed 3 bolt unit will bolt into place and function, but proper gear selection is iffy at best. I am amazed it works at all...
Miataroadster sells a nice complete replacement shifter kit..but it's pretty pricey and junk yards won't sell just the bolt-on shifter.

Jeff, have you had experience with their products? I did check out their website and they seemed legit..not just some no name chinese company selling no name crap on Ebay. The price difference between Megan and Miataroadster is huge ($65 vs. $350) I just could not justify that expense for a shifter...it's basically a street car that sees some track use...unless of course it does break.

It's a shifter..you are suppose to treat it with some kindness..

Megan is noted for being part of the stance crowd.

Did you try Leos at Expoline? http://www.expolineauto.com/

Grrr. Turns out I need the lower 4 bolt shift base for a 5 speed as well as the 5 speed 3 bolt top shifter. The 6 speed 4 bolt base that is on this 5 speed has two pins in the shifter socket area, and will not accept a 5 speed shifter. Anyone with a spare 5 speed complete shifter setup let me know. :? Mark ( I did email Expolineauto, thanks Jeff)

If this is still open, I have a nice shifter and will trade you for yours. Doing a five to six swap. If anyone in the market for a five, tranny is for sale.
