NHMS-1 - camp or RR - might be cold
I decided to wimp out and stay at RRI instead of Haulmark hotel.
recent temps seem to be holding a little colder than average.

Re: NHMS-1 - camp or RR - might be cold
why don't you get a propane heater .
they have good ones that will heat the haulmark hotel ( thats FUNNY) at good prices .
I heat the dodge lodge with one . it will get the D.L. so hot I have to open the windows .
propane heats should burn clean and most have low oxygen shut offs .
most of the time I use a big buddy heater from MR heater in the D.L. it's indoors safe .

I worry about C02 and fire. I do not mind doing hotel once. If forecast indicates tolerable temps i will cancel hotel.

I know you worry about CO2's you made a comment to me about that once before .
campers are heated in the same way with propane heaters .

"campers are heated in the same way with propane heaters" Not entirely true.
Yes, a camper/trailer uses propane for fuel, however campers/trailer do NOT use the exhaust from combustion for direct heating of the living area. Heaters for enclosed heating utilize heat exchangers and the exhaust gasses are vented to the outside.
CO2 asphyxiation is a very real threat and exhaust heaters should not be used to heat an enclosed area, especially ones you are sleeping in. Electric heaters are fine..if you have power. Other than that..you should avoid breathing exhaust as it can cause injury and death.

Agree for not using those type of heaters in an enclosed area. That's why most state do not allow space heaters indoors. Unles you want someone to read about you in the paper. Electic is the safest way to go.

Re: NHMS-1 - camp or RR - might be cold
I was referring to propane it's self as it's cleaner burning then say kerosene .
as for heaters they have vented and non vented . both are used in homes and RV's as my shops kitchen shower area has a non vented propane in the wall mounted heater that was removed for a RV that has a switch on it for 12 volt and 110 shore power .
I also stated for non vented you would pick one with a auto shut off for low oxygen shutoff or shutdown .
as my family is into RVing we get the mags every month . in the fall there was a write up about heaters .
it was more then ok to use catalytic heaters in RV's .
CO2's come from fossil fuels with higher carbon contents .
more like kerosene .
heaters like kerosene because they do not burn clean give propane heaters a bad rap .
people will see a torpedo heater and think because they know of the kerosene ones tend to smell the propane ones will also smell .
any propane heater should never smell . if it does you should shut the thing down ASAP .
you should also never use a out door heater in doors .
again why I clearly stated you pick one for indoor use .
some like the buddy heater by MR heater .
I heat my van in the winter with it when I have gone ice racing . I don't crack open the windows as it's to dam cold to do that . it has no smell to the burning of the propane and if the oxygen ever got low enough it would shut it's self down .
my van is more sealed up and smaller than a car trailer is and I have been using one in it for 10 years .
if your worried about running out of oxygen then crack open your roof vent .

Isn't carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide odorless?

if you ever smell propane from a propane heater you have to shut it down right away .
they should unlike a kerosene heater never smell of propane .
if you really worry about CO2's then you could by a detector for it .
a proper propane heater for what you intend to use it for is safe .
you in no way want a outdoor heater to be used indoors .
the indoor heaters have been oked to be used for indoors just like any other indoor heater .
I in no way am saying to use a outdoor heater in your trailer or camper .
a heater like the buddy heater is no more unsafe then other RV heaters .
you have to have some common sense in life !
nothing will catch fire if you don't put things right in front of it . the same goes for the heater that comes in your camper .
so don't pile your dirty clothes in front of it and don't place your fuel cans there either .

Re: NHMS-1 - camp or RR - might be cold
I use a large BTU so-called outdoor propane heater in my hangar in the winter when I am working (not an insulated building but doors are shut). In this case, I am not sleeping and I am aware of how I feel. This has worked out much better than kerosene (hated that). However, I was awake and could assess whether the exhaust was getting to me. One side effect of the combustion is condensation (can cause corrosion I have noticed).

Also, RVs have CO2 detectors and volatile gas detectors.

I'm talking about a comment Rebecca made to me one time about propane heaters smelling .
simply because she asked me doesn't it smell because her heater for her shop smells but it's kerosene .
