right now my car is over weight with a 1/2 tank of fuel and me in it .
I'm shooting for the weight of 2222 lbs for the car so at this point I could remove some weight to get me down to the class minimum weight .
with the 100 of talks I have had with fat cat we are also thinking of not going with adjustable spring seats/perches on the shocks . this will save me points and once the car is at the 1.0" lower ride height there is not reason for me to have to do any more adjustments of the ride height .
we are not doing compression and rebound adjusters on the shocks again the valving of the shocks will be dialed into the cars weight what the car is being used for and suspension travel .

I was wondering why the rear of the car sits higher then other Miata's .
the women I got the car from told me she just had new shocks installed on the car .
I googled the part number on the shocks and they came up as shocks for a NB Miata not a NA .
I don't know if they are different but they are not listed for the NA cars .
for the fun of it I rolled the car up on the scales and it has 67 % of the weight on the front wheels .
other then the all season tires and .3 degrees of camber that is were all the under steer is coming from .
it has more weight on the nose then most all front drive cars .
when I ran the part number of the front shocks they are for the NA cars .

So I know FCM can get the shock valving & spring rates correct. Without ride height adjustment how does FCM think weight distribution will work out with no corner balancing?

there is no way to really get around none adjustable spring seats to balance out a car .
how ever on some cars I have gotten around it by shimming the spring seats even though it takes a long time labor wise to do .
the down side is I don't have the shocks off the car to see if it can be done with the Miata's .
if I can save enough points I then can run the hoosiers .

if I remember right there is only ONE point between none factory none adjustable ride height to none factory adjustable ride height ?

I'm also thinking of welding in a the rest of the full roll cage this will add weight to the car . when I bent the bars for the roll bar at the same time I also bent up the rest of the bars for the full roll cage so I would just have to weld them in and paint it .

I have a few options to save points I'm not sure just what they will be yet .

the muffler I'm getting hit for one point and it does nothing as it's only the muffler and not a cat back system .
if I do the cat back with DOM I still don't think it will do a dam thing as the front part of the exhaust is still going to cork up the exhaust flow .
it's like the intake from the T-body forward . I'm guessing it's not really doing much if any thing ? and to remove it and replace it with the stock set up ?

as the car sits now this is what I have .

engine 2 points cat back and intake before T-body
drive train 0
suspension 0
brakes 0
exterior 1 splitter less the 3" out
weight reduction 0
tires 0 all season
total 3 points

NA 1.6 MIATA
HP STOCK ? 116
TORK STOCK ? 100
base weight 2222 my car scale out 49 LBS more with me in it and a half tank of fuel .
assessment points 30.3
total assessment 33.3
classed in T30 .

so if the car was yours what would you do ?

I'd recommend a big front sway bar for starters. The hollow Racing Beat seems to be a popular choice. From there I think it's a set of compromise decisions primarily between suspension and tires to stay in T30. Steve Hosker would be a good guy to talk to.

My classification #'s, for whatever they may be worth, my car is dual purpose street/track car so that has driven my setup:

Showroom Assessment Go to Car List
Make Mazda
Model Miata NA 1.8
Factory Rated Crank HP 128
Factory Rated Torque 114
Showroom Base Weight 2293
Showroom Assessment Points 36.7
Touring Class Base Classification T30

Category Assessment

Drivetrain 0.0
Suspension 5.0 (single/height adjustable coilovers 550/350 and non-factory swaybar)
Brakes -1.0 (Hawk DTC60 pads, ABS disable)
Exterior 0.0
Weight Reduction -7.0 (hey I'm fat what can I say)
Tires 2.0 (205, 200 treadwear)
Total -1.0

we have the suspension all set as to what I'm needing for the car .
the down side is the tires I'm stuck with .
