a driving instructor was killed at summit point on sunday at hyperfest .
it seams the student lost control of the car and it went into the trees killing the instructor .

I did not have a chance to talk with my friend that emailed me about it as he was there this past weekend until just now .
he said it was not on the track it's self but on the drivers training course . nasa has been doing this thing for LIKE 50 bucks you get a class session and one track session . time to rethink that idea ?

I also read there was a second incident that involved car to car contact.

yes my buddy told me that also earlier in the day two cars got together but no one was hurt .

my friend was telling me that it seamed the hole event was every disorganized right from the start .
I found that to be a funny statement as when I used to race NASA was always well organized .

the instructor was killed in a student driven GTO, that looped it in 7 (iirc) and impacted a tree on the passenger side...I have seen pictures of the car and it isn't pretty.

there was a second incident requiring a medevac when 2 cars contacted in the NASA race portion of the program, the drivers are both expected to make a full recovery with one suffering a pretty good concussion and losing part of a finger...pictures of his car are even worse than the GTO. (he also hit a tree)

from the information I have the event was a cluster with unruly spectators throwing beer cans onto the track as racing was going on and another one nearly driving his street car off the bridge onto the track below...sounds like a good event to not be a part of.

he did not say any thing about some one losing there finger .
he did say there were people drinking and were thrown out .
I hate to say this but I think it has more to do with the kids and the mind set of the drifters ?
I went down to NJ a few years ago to watch a drift event . (I was talked into it ) by a kid I built a roll cage in his 951 Porsche to do drifting events with .
all I can say is what a joke it was !
when I left the event there was kids doing burn outs in the parking lot and driving like they were drifting kings on the street .
