Metal Cutting Available
Metal Cutting Available
We have enough production under our belt that I feel I can offer the service to folks in COM.
Image 4 owns a brand new 120" x 64" x 4" flatbed CNC. It's set up to cut everything from cardstock to 4" billett 8020 aluminum. Linear speed, depending on material and the cut, ranges from 30 inches per minute to 900 inches per minute. I have already cut a pair of strut mounts and a battery box mounting plate for the TR7 that look like I got them from Vorschlag!
For the club, we'll discount our street rates to $35 set up per file, and $85 per hour on machine.
Pop me an email, we are just figuring this out so need some "development assistance".

i have a few things i would like........ and i may be abl to make a trade and go pull parts of that car in the junk yard.....
i need a plate i can bolt down in spare tire well to mount my nitrous kit to.... plan is to use the spare tire holder to secure the unit so i can not cut holes in my car.... and hide everything under the carpet..... THIS IS FOR DRAG RACING ONLY USE only

Can you cut Lexan? I'm looking to make a rear spoiler for CSP Miata.
Re: Metal Cutting Available
Jeff,
Just out of curiosity what are you using for a CAD/CAM program?

Hi All,
Yes, we can cut Lexan, acrylic, PVC, styrene, PTEG, di-bond (great for splitters and wings) and even plywood. We also can cut patterns or test pieces on coroplast or 3-D them in PTEG or 4x4 wood.
To all, while we are refining the service, If you supply material we can work out something. Lower volume=higher flexibility, right?
We are using an interlink between i-Cut and BabyCAD to drive the controller software called NSynch. In shop we use ArchiCAD, BabyCAD, SketchUp, and Illustrator depending on the product demand.
Illustrator and BabyCAD is FAST if you need to make 2-D outline files, and still faster than ArchiCAD if you need to make 3D files of low complexity. If you want conjoining arcs you need AutoCAD or ArchiCAD.

Re: Metal Cutting Available
This is probably good news for me. My car is going to need little triangular tabs to mount the suspension to the frame. That's so I can move the mounting points for roll centers, ride height etc. So each car will need around 24 of these little tabs and a person might want them with different offsets for the holes to do the adjustment.
Can you put holes accurately in the tabs too, or would this machine just make the tabs and then the holes would be a different step? The individual pieces would be triangles of about 3" on a side out of stainless or aluminum. The holes would be 1/2" or 3/8".

Re: Metal Cutting Available
Marcus, why don't you send me a sketch of your 2D part with some basic dimensions on it, then I'll create a dxf for you. Then send the dxf to Jeff and he can let you know right away if his machine can make it. My guess is that as long as the overall dimensions fit in the machine, and the material and thickness is within the capabilities, then it would be Ok.

Thaks, Carl, I missed your reply earlier.
I'll get in touch, but may take another couple of weeks.
Cheers!

Thanks for the assist, Carl!
Marcus, if we do it right, we can cut the part all flat, and drill the holes in the tabs all in one pass.
The bending of the tabs would be the second step, if I understand you correctly.
We have a brake if you want me to give it a shot.
I trust Carl's drawing - it's his day job! Me, I make pretty pictures

Re: Metal Cutting Available
Thanks Jeff. The tabs are simple flat plates that bolt to the frame tubes, one on each side.
What does your CNC table use to cut with, is it a little 1/8" mill bit or something like that?
