you might not want to wait that long..... this place changed out cars very frequently ...... good news is they have them on stands in the junk yard...... all of them.... it will be very simple to get access to the rear axle..... i do go there regularly i will keep an eye out for more......

TR7 Build String Update

Too busy at work these past 3 weeks - it pays for the toy, right?

We did get the rest of the floors cut out and the edge grinding started. The needle bearing set for the struts came in - these are really nice! The anti-wind-up blocking for the rear axle arrived. We got the roll bar ordered from AutoPower.

The T5 went out to the transmission shop for a quick look-see to make sure it's in good enough shape to go into the build.

The engine guy called and we're probably 2 weeks out from getting the short block here, and we found the elusive Even-Fire flywheel.

I found this thread doing a little internet surfing. I ran COM many years ago in a TR8 coupe. Around 95 or so I switched over to SCCA ITS in the TR8. Still have the car, but it hasn't seen the track in several years. Thinking about getting back into some track days this year, as I have a couple of buddies that still run often with COM. I might be of some help to you if your still building the TR7. I have 7 TR8s and a couple of TR7s now. Lots of experience building, restoring and racing these things. Everything from TR7 16Valves to highly modded TR8s. Built several cages for them as well. There is a treasure trove of parts out in my garage. I even have a bunch of Buick stuff. Glad to help if I can. I'm located just off Cape. I'll add a couple of pictures of the race cars as soon as I figure out how it works around here.

Thought I'd share what the door panels look like with a proper cage. SCCA made me remove the disco ball I had hanging from the roof.

THanks for piping up, I will positively take advantage of your wisdom and generosity.

We're making progress slowly, the final floor plate came in from RImmer today, the suspension and brakes are in house, the T5 tranny is being checked out by a transmission shop, and the V6 is making slow progress.

I can't believe you bought floor pans. Never seen anybody do them on a wedge before. Sure a patch here or there. Maybe even plasma a section out of a parts car, but new pans??? I did the floor pans on a Stag a couple of years ago. Only place to get them was from England and they would have cost over a grand. I ended up making them from scratch out of a couple of TR7 trunk lids. Recently had to do the same and more for a 55 Hillman. I'll send you my contact info.

Rimmer wasn't actually all that bad. I got all 6 sections for about $450.

Seemed like a decent cost to not have to chase down metal, get it bent or bend it, etc...plus I'm a total rank beginner at welding so I figured I'd take any advantage I could get. This Sunday I hope I'm completing the grinding on the old floor.

Woody over at The Wedge Shop delivered a set of GAZ struts and shocks with radial bushings yesterday. Complete with dyno plots. Very nice. Last thing before I can start on the suspension.

Mine's a DHC - No mounting point for a disco ball...COM will probably let me run some kind of disgusting license plate as long as it disses Alfa Romeo's... :twisted:

Here is a link to a TR7 roll bar for $50 on CL. Looks like it would make a good start for a cage. It would need a diagonal and cross bar added, but that's the easy part. Bending tubes to fit is the hard part.

Thanks all, Rollbar acquired, in the welding shop for a harness bar and a lateral.

It's getting welded in to the lower suspension mounts, no more body flex!
