20 seconds would have him running with top GT cars, so that's probably out of reach, but I think his power-to-weight will allow him to run in the high 1:20s. This is based on guesses of 2175# on-track & 320 RWHP.

Isn't that bomb already lighter than a Miata? An LS3 480/376 crate motor will get you 2X Will's HP for a moderate price (compared to German iron anyway); after getting destroyed at a NASA TT, I'm thinking a Chevy short block is the way to go for lots more power. I get all shivery just thinking about 400 ft-lbs pushing me around the longer tracks. :P

I am parting with my current Hoosier R6 tires (225/40/17) and getting fresh Kumho V710.
If you want you can have them.
Date stamp is 0508 but there is some grove lines still showing.
If you have a spare set of rims there can be the extra rubber for more track time you'd be looking for.

It was a tongue in cheek post (I have plenty of tires, my M3 is already way lighter than a spec miata, and I already expect to find a ton of track time with COM at Mosport (now Canadian Tire Motorsports Park - Eh!?!)

And you don't need 400ft lbs to get the shivers, just keep your right foot planted cresting T2 and you'll be floating on air or wetting your nomex. I've done both.

Foot planted on T2: hummm... giving me ideas, but no downforce? Here, like other places in other tracks the trick it NOT to lift once you are "committed".
From there it's a blast up to braking of 5a.
How about foot planted on T-1 Like the AMLS does? There you need downforce (Will tried that one once, eh? :shock: )

You can wet your nomex anytime ... problem is when "number 2" becomes present, THAT is the scary part ... :lol:

Yes, I once took the Subaru line through T1. I think you need massive down force likely helps. That and either tires wide enough to bridge the groove on the outside edge of the exit curbing, or to not drift a tire there to begin with. :oops: I should have left that last inch of track unused..!

the trouble with downforce

the trouble with downforce is that it creates drag. And then you need more power! Or your top end speed suffers.

Mario Bonacorsi was up there last week, and had these specifics to offer regarding changes to the track surface since last year:

1 - They did put some cold pack asphalt on the end of the curbs.
2 - There is now a small bump between T9 and T10 due to the new tunnel that was installed. You need to be careful not to let it upset the car heading for the front straight.

In response to a question, Mario also said he didn't notice any bump in T2. My recollection is that there's a bump just over the crest of T2 that, if you're fiddling with your line as you cross over it at speed, might well make for a very exciting end to your day.
