Re: G Tech Pro RR
I have had excellent luck with G-Tech products, although I don't have the laptimer one..yet. Looks like a winner to me. That reminds me..time to list my Racelogic gps timers on Ebay...
Butch's badass Blazer. The northeasts' fastest road racing/hillclimbing/autocrossing snowplow! Might even be the Worlds fastest..

It's not what you drive, it's how you drive. "Lap times matter"

Re: G Tech Pro RR
GPS based devices do best in clear overhead conditions for crisp, accurate reception, but they will tolerate intermittent blackouts (bridges/trees) and still plot data. Some heavy overcast days they will not acquire satellites,no matter how many cold starts you perform.(reboots, basically)
My Racelogic GPS units would either work like a charm..or drive me crazy,by reading out incorrect displays,..splits instead of hot lap times, even though I didn't set splits....not record data..it had a mind of its own...
It had nothing to do with them being GPS based; even on clear blue days, they just would not work as programmed. It drove me nuts..
Tried many things with the manufacturer..upgrades/updates..replaced them..twice..remote antennas..but I'm all done. They are not reliable..! I'd be better off with a good stopwatch in one hand..
I was planning on trying the Pro RR based on my experience with G-Techs original Pro meter, which I still own. That unit works easily (user friendly) and is accurate.
Their website makes the Pro RR sound easy to set up,and the reviews so far have been positive.
From their website:
"ON THE TRACK...
Lap-times and segment-times without beacons!
When you get to the track just push the RECORD button at the start line,
G-TECH will do the rest. As you drive it will start giving you accurate lap times. Yes, its 10Hz GPS engine is really that good!
You actually don't have to look at the G-TECH to see if you were faster in a given lap segment. The entire screen inverts and can be seen with peripherial vision without ever taking your eyes off the road. Human minds can recognize shapes much faster than numerical values. So a quick glance at the "thumbs-up" symbol will show you how much faster you were by how much it's filled up.
Only the information you need when you need it!"
Their software seems to be a nice package as well....lots of data....
"IN THE PITS...
Immediate REAL-TIME REPLAY, no downloading necessary!
Real-Time Replay screen shows the map of the track and the cursor indicates where your car was on the track at that time. Current Acceleration, Braking G's, Speed and Lap# are displayed on the top of the screen. Replay can be sped-up or slowed down with the ROLLER button. Current replay speed is indicated by the Play indicator. You can also jump laps at any given moment so it's easy to see what you did differently compared to the fast lap.
"It's so powerful, yet so easy to learn, not to mention fun!"
For $300 direct,it sounds too good to be true! For $225,new off Ebay..a steal!
