Miata quick disconnect steering wheel question.

Post by MiataSteve » Tue Feb 08, 2011 2:50 pm

I am considering putting a quick disconnect (bolt-on) steering wheel in the Miata. The stock wheel is close to the cage, but I never had an issue. Does this look like a good set-up?

Looks like your not getting any help on this one Steve. Did you get it any way?

I was drooling over those NRG quick disconnects awhile back. Let me know what you think about it.

I used it at NHMS and I really like it. Its my first time using one so I can't compare it to other styles.

The hub is easy off and easy on! Even if the wheel was turned when its was taken off you just put the hub on and turn the wheel until it find the index and then it snaps in. No slop at all

Now if I could find an easy answer to shutting off the airbag light....other than the black tape over the light.

You can bridge an 8K Ohm (I think) resistor across the terminals on the orange airbag plug. I got the tip off miata.net a few years ago and it worked fine.

To get rid of my airbag light I pulled the light and the computer from behind the dash. No buzz and no light.

While you're in there, drill out the pin that locks the steering wheel when the key is out of the ignition. This is a safety item.
