FS: 92 Black&Tan Miata - $1500 obo

Post by paultg » Thu Apr 21, 2011 9:42 pm

My friend is selling his Miata. It's got 140-150k miles on it, was recently rear ended, needs a bumper, plastic panel between tail lamps and some hammering of trunk floor. Pictures coming. Trunk still opens/closes fine.

Car includes tan leather interior, hard dog double diagonal hard top roll bar with harness bar, stainless steel brake lines, viscous limited slip that still works, and has a long nose 1.6l motor. Car is solid and rust free. It is a C package with all options, AC has been removed.

This is my old car that also took a front end hit to the nose. I have pics, no suspension damage. My friend purchased it and repaired it with all mazda used or new parts. I did all maintenance items such as the timing belt, water pump, heater hoses, fluids, etc. before selling it to him. Runs and drives great.

Would be a great cheap means of transportation or track car. Car is located in Nashua. Feel free to email or Pm me for more info.

I heard about Jeff's incident yesterday and would love it if this can help him out in any way.

Here are the pictures:

The car will come with 14" Miata alloys (not the steel wheels).

Pictures or the car when I owned it and of the front end accident are here:

It has new mazda front fenders, the bumper was reused, and the radiator support was cut out and repaired with new mazda stuff. The hood was used off a '94 (aluminum) and the entire front of the car repainted. There was no damage to the engine or suspension. - Paul G.

Posted only because you were insisting yesterday that you'd be back, and I figured you'd appreciate the humor...

I smell a parts swapping party coming.

I'm not much of a mechanic, but i'd be glad to cater it.

Jeff, if you dumpster the old car definitely remove all the good (non-bent) suspension pieces and other good parts (engine, drivetrain, doors, etc). You could easily do it in a weekend with some local help. Then just pitch the tub, if in fact it's bent and no good. I'd question the condition of the subframes and would check them against known good units before putting them back into service.

Added a link to pictures of the car when I owned it and from the accident I had with it. The link to the photo album is in my post with the other pictures, just want to be sure there is full disclosure and anyone considering the car. It really does run great and shifts excellent (better than the car I replaced it with), and there were no issues getting it aligned or inspected when he put it back on the road. - Paul G.

Jeff,

My name is David Lopilato...I came up and shook your hand in the gargage after the incident. I, like many others, were relieved that you were ok...

While you may be able to salvage parts, my brothers and I have a Motorsport supply company...I would like to offer you the opportunity to buy anything I can get at cost...no profit to me, to help get you back on track...this is an honest deal of "my cost is your cost"...let me know what you need and I will send the pricing to you...from what I witnessed...start with Enkei wheels...

Again, thank God you are ok. If I can help, let me know. I'm not sure where you are located...I'm in North Reading...If I can lend a wrenching hand, let me know...

David, thanks so much. We will be in touch, I'm sure.

I was running our "B" set of Toyo's. The "A" set is on K-1's. As will all further sets...

Well Jeff, the color is right! ;)

Whichever way you decide to go, let me know (us know) if there is anything I can help with.

I do have a collection of parts that I've accumulated over the years, and am happy to lend a hand if possible. After last season, It would actually be nice to turn wrenches on somebody else's car for a change. ;)

Also, Cy's advice concerning used Spec Miatas is a good one. Adding everything up, you may find it cheaper to start with a car that already has a cage.

Sounds like you have a lot of COM friends who are stepping forward and offering to help however they can - that is awesome. Whatever you do, I suggest you start a "build thread" here, to keep us all in the loop.
