Re: Sub Atomic particles..(naked Atom pics..)
Most people imagine Az is all heat, cactus and desert, which is NOT true. They have forests, mountains, rivers and even snow! The elevation makes a big difference in the daily temperatures.Around the Prescott area, the daily temps are well under 100 degrees, and there is even light snow there in the winter; It usually melts by noon. There are some areas that have snow year round,up in the mountains.I have a few friends who have moved to Az. in the last few years and all they can say is NEVER would they move back to Ma. The job climate is tough..but if you have a skill, there is no problem with employment or opening your own business. The political climate is much more conservative than in Ma. You can register almost anything for road use,and taxes are minimal. A city is a city, and even in Az. they box themselves close together. Believe me,there are plenty of people living within 10 miles of town with LOTS of elbow room.

I do business with a bunch of engineers at Honeywell in Tempe. They all like it out there. They all admit they have to hunker down for 3 months a year in air conditioned spaces, but they feel the 9 months of good weather offsets it enough. The ones I know race dirt bikes and go bass fishing. And play golf! There are over 100 golf courses within 15 miles of Tempe/Scotsdale/Phoenix. Water shortage? What water shortage?

Let's see..three months that you may need to seek shelter from the heat,in your car, home or other building....yet you can go outside if need be, without much too much discomfort. Then...a balance 9 months(!) of sun...and reasonable temperatures.Cool nights...not much rain.Nice.
..or...4 months of sub freezing temperatures, mostly every day..snow..ice,sand,salt.Plows,crashes,slipping,sliding..damn,stuck again! The Ma. state motto should be "Have a grey day!". How come my 5 year old car has SO much rust??
Then...8 months of...waiting for those 30 sunny days to appear...while putting up with mayflies,mosquitoes,mud..and rain...
I need a vacation...permanently!

There are three racetracks near Phoenix, so it's not an unreasonable move

Yea,Firebird is really nice! Phoenix Raceway is close too.
Why can't I whine? I have lived in Ma most of my 50+ years and am ready for a change, and I don't mean an Obama change.
I figure I have been a new england punching bag long enough. Most of the people in this area of the country have a car for one reason: basic transportation, and many of them don't know the meaning of the word maintenance. The only time they care about their cars is when it is broken. I'm getting tired of listening to them all ..whine...boo-hoo my car is broken.. Not to mention the crap-ass weather we have. (assuming you might LIKE warm sunny days, rather than cold, grey wet days.)
Arizona sounds like a nice place to live.Racing all year and a climate that does not eat cars.No tornadoes,no blizzards,no hurricanes,no tsunamis,no earthquakes,no volcanoes..no Kennedys...
I'm gonna scout it out this spring. Even if it were for a second home. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

Who do you deal with at Honeywell John? I work for Honeywell as a field quality engineer. 26 years counting my contractor years.John F wrote:I do business with a bunch of engineers at Honeywell in Tempe. They all like it out there. Fluids control engineers for the aerospace side of things at Tempe. I make high-end limit switches. Some of the older ones are Kelly Howell, Jim Wiggens and Don Vasques. I don't see on site quality engineers anymore and we have been deemed good enough for source delegation. Last one I dealt with here was Ed Frateschaos4NH wrote:
