Do assigned car numbers change?

Post by breakaway500 » Sat Mar 28, 2009 8:18 am

I received a confirmation email for the NHMS1 event, and my car number was listed as 8. It was 801 last year. Is my 2009 assigned car number 8? That would be less weight on the car...

I would bet you requested number "8". Numbers don't change for no reason.

Go on-line and check the information you registered with -

Mark, you are correct.I was registering for some autocross events the same day,and I use #8 for those events. I must have punched in #8 for the COM registration as well. Can I keep #8 as my number running with COM?

If that was the number in the confirmation email then that is your number.

How did you luck out with a one-digit number? I tried to get a 2-digit number when I first joined COM but couldn't even find one of those that wasn't taken.

I'm not sure,Dave. Might just be pure luck.No one else using it anymore is my guess. I will take it as an omen. I once walked into the Registry to get plates for my bike, and they handed me plate number AA777 off the pile. I should never have given that plate up 30 years ago.

I think if a number hasn't been used in two years it's up for grabs.
