Ride-along program for curious event observers?
Ride-along program for curious event observers?
Hi,
I have a friend who will be observing the upcoming NHMS event from the paddock. At events with other clubs, I have seen people participating in "HPDE sampler programs" that let interested individuals sit-in on classroom sessions and then see the track from the passenger's seat of an instructor's car (http://www.boston-bmwcca.org/EventDescr ... _Guide.pdf).
Can COM instructors give a short on-track rides to event observers?
I know my friend would enjoy the experience and I'm hoping it will help me convince her to actively drive in our future events!
Thanks!

I don't believe that our insurance covers anyone who is not registered for the event in question.

Hmm, I wonder if a new registration could be introduced for a ride-along program. Would the insurance then consider the participant registered?

Micheal, the BOD is actively reviewing your suggestion, and some similar ones presented by other members. We meet on April 15th in Littleton, would you be interested in attending the meeting? If so, directions are available here on the forum.

Maybe the people that want to ride-along could 'register' for an event and not pay a fee.cuda6666 wrote:I don't believe that our insurance covers anyone who is not registered for the event in question.

I don't see why the club shouldn't make a few bucks off such a deal. Some nominal fee, $25, $40 maybe? As far as I'm concerned, COM qualifies as a "good cause"!
