WIth the level of preparation on your car, it would be classified as SPB.

At LEAST SPB if not PB. Those are some pretty radical changes, and certainly go beyond ST, where the motor internals must remain stock. Not to mention the Datsun rear end, and the non-Triumph brakes.
It will be nice to see the car run! Good luck, as the class you are in is not the important thing, the experience and our personal goals are what drive us! :D

Sounds like a great engine.....unfortunately, you'll be dueling it out with 4 cylinder turbo's.

Thanks for helping out on the class. I'll start reading PB...

TR6's had a problem with both brakes and the rear end - there's a lot of stories of the hubs splitting or running out, particularly at Daytona. So those are the first things that got replaced. Besides, after 35 years the springs and all the rubber were totally shot.

Dick Good at GoodParts in PA makes a great set of upgrades for safety and performance, as does PRI Race in Detroit. Most everything that could break in 35 years has been replaced with aluminum, etc.

You're right about the personal goals - after 20 years of motorcycling and a serious crash, I don't need to go crazy fast anymore. Rapid and smooth application of horsepower - that's what the TR6 is all about. It's really fun to drive, especially with the old fashioned Red Line Michelins on it...drifting corners can be considered an art form - one which I have not completely mastered on them. The Goodrich AA's are like flypaper compared to the bias ply tires.

Can someone shed light on what to expect for classwork in April? And, what I can be doing over winter to prepare? The last thing we need to do is to get in someone's way.

This summer at Watkins, we were spanked by stock Pontiac Solstice and BMW Z4's. We were much faster than the Z3's except for the 3.5L, and all the stock Mustangs (non-turbo).

Push-rod technology with a conventionally aspirated engine is no match for twin-cam, fuel injected wonders!!

I'll plead with the standards staff.

Ignore the section about the Advanced Skills Exercises== that is on a parking lot and we do not do that. The Driving school section is what we do.

I see this car is registered as an ST1 car for NH??? :shock:

Hi Les and Mark ; I guess Jeff and Liz feel they might have a better chance in ST1 but they don't realize that the Subaru STi s run in ST1. They would be better off in their correct class of SPB. :lol: Although with a Triumph you are behind the eight ball to start. Sorry Mark, I don't mean your "8" ball Atom

Hi Dan. This weekend it will be an 8 ball Focus. The Atom is not back yet,plus I want to try out a few changes I have made on the Focus. Looks like good weather. I am right in the middle of putting in my new clutch in the Dodge.Man,this thing is massive! I'll bet it weighs as much as...a Miata! Ha!

I think the TR6 would be happy in PB. Nice thing about the class is...anything goes... :wink: (except a V8 or 6cyl.FI)

Thanks for the info, amusement, and directions.

BTW, I had it on the dyno at kTR today, and it pulled 108bhp. Peaks exactly where the cam says it will at 5800rpm. We found it was running very lean through the center of the torque curve, and rich at the top - no time to re-jet, so we just made an overall richness adjustment.

108 horsepower at the wheels,right? Brake hp is measured at the flywheel,I believe.What does the car weigh?
