Question about TT procedures

I noticed in the Calabogie results that my first lap was recorded as "no time." This doesn't bother me because my fastest lap was my last one, and that was recorded OK. But I'd like to find out if this was a timing issue, or if I did something wrong.

I was the second of only two cars on track in the last time trial session of the day. Near the beginning of my first timed lap, one turn after passing timing, I was greeted with a waving yellow flag, so I slowed down and wrote off that lap. Remembering something from the driver's meeting about pitting if you get a waving yellow, I signaled that I was coming in, and pitted. I was immediately waved back out again, and did what I think was three laps (I often have trouble counting to three) before seeing the checkered flag.

However, only my last two laps were recorded. I don't care if there was a timing issue, but I do care if I did something wrong. We're supposed to pit if we get a waving yellow in a TT, right?

I believe that "no time" would usually indicate a timing error. If there was a timing error and a competitor did not get 3 runs on the clock, control is notified and the driver is given the option to run again. "No time" listed in results would indicate that the driver waived the opportunity and kept the runs that were recorded.

That is my understanding, and I could be wrong.

That said, I was helping with timing during your stint Dave, and am pretty sure we had you for 3 laps. At all times we had 2 clocks on all cars (master and back-up). The result could be a typo.

Good question Dave,

I checked the timing charts and your three laps were 2:39.906, 2:40.281 and 2:39.219. The first lap did not appear on the spreadsheet as I had that cell formatted incorrectly.

Well, I was trying to be polite and not bring up why there was a waving yellow flag. It wasn't really a factor since it wasn't really even a re-run -- more like just an extra warmup lap. And I knew my last lap was the fastest anyway. So, it really didn't matter one way or the other --

Wait a minute... what am I saying? I was robbed! I was running a 2:36 until I had to pit!

I just wanted to make sure that immediately pitting in was the appropriate response to a waving yellow.
