Need one WRX/STI roll bar measurement

Post by cuda6666 » Wed Dec 05, 2007 4:23 pm

I'm trying to determine if a WRX Autopower 4-point race bolt-in roll bar will work in my Legacy. I took some measurements at Lime Rock, but need one more. I need the distance between the rear support bars where they mount to the trunk bulkhead.

Thanks much.

OK. Seventy-five views - no responses. Where are my Subie brothers? Where's the love?

Is the weather so bad that not one of you can walk out to the garage and take a simple measurement :?:

What is it that you want to measure? The distance between the bolts that mount to the wheel arch in the back?

The distance between the mounting points for the two rear support bars. I just want to make sure that I have metal where the mounting points need to be.

Thanks, Raj

Help him out Raj! So he can go to SPB. Then you and I can have ST2 to ourselves (Maybe Ron too, huh?)

I'll get back to you in a day or two. I just got home (1:30am) and I'm too sleepy to put the bar back together now (it's sitting in pieces).

If you still have the STI carcass, it would be easier just to measure between the mounting points where you removed the bar.

I don't have the blue ball of joy at my place. I'll ask the NH hick (redundant?) whose place it is at to take some measurements for me :)

Here's what the dude told me:

46 3/4" inside hole to inside hole. 53" outside hole to outside hole. 6 7/8" base of shaft to tip of mushroom.

Glad Raj was efficient - I never remembered when I was where the car was to measure mine (rollbar - not Raj's 'other' measurement)

Now all I need to do is build up the courage to go out to my unheated garage, rip out the rear seat back and check the measurement. I'm pretty sure from the measurements I got from your car at Lime Rock that it will fit.

Then, of course, I'll have to work on Raj to get himself a nice BMW or something so I can buy the used bar from the blue ball.
