Actually I think that figure is rather erroneous. Looking at the lastest member listing, it is apparent that nearly 2,700 "members" are smut, pill and drug pushers. Can we remove them from the roles?

Welcome to phpbb, the software overrun by bots. Will's done a fine job keeping up with the bots however.

Is that a yes, or a no?

Thanks Andrew, you are 100% right about phpbb being overrun with spambots.
That said, Sam is right too.
By the way Sam, I cleaned the member list on Saturday afternoon.
Last time I cleaned it out was in September. 2,800+ false accounts in 2 - 2 1/2 months! Yikes!!
Unfortunately, I missed a legitimate account. EP510, if you read this, please re-register. I apologize for deleting your account, and now that it is deleted, I have no idea how to contact you.

I know Will, I was also astounded and could see where 80% occurred after September.
Love the internet, but it sure is frustrating. In fact since you cleaned it yesterday, there have been 49 MORE of the trash peddlers! Jeeeesh!! Keep up the good work. I wasn't finding fault, just making an observation.

No problem Sam. I only feel bad that several legitimate accounts have slipped through the cracks in the past few months.
I'd like to clean up the reg process and make things easier for the "real" users trying to get in. I think we (I) owe them at least that much!
More to follow...

BTW how many members does COM have? How many are 'active'? I'm just curious for round numbers.
Any idea how that compares to past years?

Nice comparison Scott.
Matt, I am sure that the membership number is quite larger.
I'll ask Paul at tomorrow night's board meeting.

For 2005 we had 309 members that registered for at least one event.
For 2006 we had 321 members that registered for at least one event.
For 2007 we had 322 members that registered for at least one event.

I, for one, am not surprised that we had a spike in 2006, which happens to be the year we went to Mosport twice. Coincidence? I think not!
OK, I can dream...

What's the average number of attendees per event year over year? Is it increasing or decreasing?
