mx5 cup suspension

Post by 962porsche »

we have a 09 mx5 cup car that runs the cup suspension being that it's only offered from mazda motorsports the factory would this be a factory item?
i would think it would be for two reasons 1st being the car was built by mazda as a cup car and 2nd the suspension is a item you can only buy thru mazda.
trying to class our mx5 cup car

Nothing in our rule books is concerned with "Factory". That's Autox BS typically.

It's not stock, so in touring you have to take points for it. Is it adjustable? Are the coil springs height adjustable?

Assuming no adjustment for shocks/springs, if the shocks/springs are not stock, you'd have to take 1 point for shocks and 2 for springs.

You need to take the appropriate points for:
Shocks
Springs
Sway Bars
Offset bushing (if using them, my MX5 has mazda competition bushing that go in the spindle).

So you are looking at 4-6 points for suspension I think.

yes camber bushing with shocks and springs that are adjustable and bigger anti roll bars as well.
runs DOT R's on stock size mazda rims
header with exhaust ( no cat)
ecu cup/spec mx-5 tune
intake changed to the throttle body.
that's it from stock that can and is done to the cars for cup/spec.
with out the lead weight in the car for spec mx5 the car scales in at 2505 LBS with me in it and just about a empty fuel tank.
for spec with me and and empty tank the cars have to scale in at 2600 lbs.

So T50 or T60 depending on what tire you choose most likely.
