Re: best compact lightweight Al floor jack for track?

I have a US General 1.5 ton jack that I got from Harbor Freight like 15 years ago, it's light and has held up great. I think the equivalent is this one by Pittsburgh. It looks exactly the same except for the branding. https://www.harborfreight.com/automotive/jacks-jack-stands/floor-jacks/15-ton-alum...

Re: Harness Mounting

If you can move them to the seat bolts it might be better. Hard to say without seeing what you have.

Re: Harness Mounting

That sounds like it will be ok. Are the lap belt mounts connected to the 17''ish mm seat bracket bolts, the ones that go into the floor?

Re: Recommended truck to tow two car enclosed trailer

I towed a double open trailer for a few seasons with a 2005 Duramax. The truck had no issue pulling it and it didn't feel much different from pulling a single. I never bothered with weight distribution bars as it never felt like it needed it. For a double enclosed you'll want a 1 ton and ideally a d...

Re: F150 3.5 Eco Boost. Is it enough...

That will do just fine. I towed for several years with an X5 4.8 that made 350/350 hp/torque and it did great. With the longer wheel base and 470 pound-feet from the eco boost you'll have no problem. The upside of having an HD truck with a diesel is that it's fuel economy will be less affected by th...

Re: Thompson Turn 6

One of the warnings I repeatedly give students - if you you are ever about to put a wheel off resist the temptation to add steering angle, whenever possible straighten out and maintain throttle. I also point out the danger spots and have them scout recovery paths. Since we'll never eliminate these d...

Re: Thompson July 2020

The event page says here the sound limit is 99db and this post says 103db.

I know 4db isn't much difference, but I'm curious which is correct.

Thanks for the replies. I'm looking for a free standing rack that can hold 24 tires or so.
That's a lot of tires for someone who doesn't come to the track any more :P
