As much as it pains me to say, for track days the Saturn may be the better choice. I haven't driven one, but they seem to be getting good press.

I have driven the new Mustang. It's nice, plenty of power and good sized brakes. BUt it's got a curb weight around 3800 lbs; more like a NASCAR sled than a track day playmate...

If you want to stay USA plate, how about the Pontiac Solstice GXP - the one with the 240 HP, not the last year's 170 HP?

I thought the Sky and the Solstice were the same car. No?

that was my impression. Same car with slightly different bodywork. I prefer the look of the Saturn (looks more like a vette). Both made by GM here in the States i think.

They are still much heavier than a Miata weighing #2900 I think the MX-6 is 2400.

Just get an STi - it would be more fun, especially if you frequently decide to venture off the paved surface ;)

I agree - I prefer the looks of the Sky to the roundy looks of the Solstice. I just wish they didn't do the bling bling brake light decorations.

The Sky's a bit cushier with more standard features, and Solstice (for lack of the cushiness) is a better performer by a bit.

I would go with the mustang. Normally aspirated V8, roof, and tons of stuff on the aftermarket.

I like the challenge of running a car that looks like a dog on paper - but responds well to the wrench. That's why I bought a Legacy GT instead of an STI (which is just too obviously an off-the-shelf race car) :P

So, I'd get the Pontiac.

But is the Sky getting classed into anything decent for SCCA Club? If its turbo i doubt it. SCCA has turbo-phobia.

I'd go for a used Corvette, You can get a low milage Z06 for the price of the Sky, and they are an awesome car that you have to do nothing to to track them. But if you wanted a new car --- go for the Mustang. They are a hand full to drive which makes them exciting and fun plus there is a lot of aftermarket products and parts are cheap !

+1

And the Mustang is great as long as you do not need to do those things, what do they call them? Oh yeah, turns. The Mustang is a fat pig of car. i'd opt for a used Z06 that PPI'ed well versus a new Sky or what-have-you.

3,800 lbs Mustang? What were those Ford guys thinking??? A pity really given they had a good chance to make a great car... and blew it :(
Enjoy the Track,

Where are the head lamps ? I assume its streetable like the Mustang or Sky . and for only $900,000 it should at least have headlamps
