It was bound to happen...Trailer broken into

Post by 6PAK72 » Mon Jan 16, 2017 4:16 pm

Car is OK...

I park my trailer in our lot at work, and it has been safe for quite some time - mostly because
A. the USPS has a service center there and there's vans and Postal Police running around all the time and
B. it's on Airport property and Homeland and the Statie's come park in our lot frequently

However, sometime between Dec 25 and Jan 13 someone hacksawed off the lock tangs on the side door of the trailer and stole all our tools, jack and a few other things.

About $2500 of Craftsman 6 and 12-point 1/4 and 3/8" sockets, Craftsman metric wrenches, brand new Ryobi 18v impact gu,n charger and 2 batteries, breaker bar, sockets and torque wrench, Flyin Miata timing belt tool kit, huge sockets for Miata hubs, Harbor Freight brake maintenance kit, Crafstman impact socket set, Harbor Freight 1.5ton Racing Jack, Longacre recording puncture pyrometer, Longacre large-dial pressure gauge.

Most of these had red spray paint on them as an indicator that it was our tool, and several of the items had BAKER on them in indelible ink.

I suspect it's in someone's garage forever now, but if anyone trips over this stuff, please let me know.

Thanks!

This is terrible. I wonder if there is any security camera footage.

Man that sucks. Did this go down while you were traveling on vacation?

Bummer! It's bad enough to lose all those tools, but to also now feel like you can't trust keeping your trailer parked at your work really sucks.

..I have to admit, it was hard to resist the urge to troll you by posting a for sale thread for slightly used "Baker" tools.

Sorry to hear that Jeff. I hate it when something like that happens. Stealing is a low life activity.

Everyone with an enclosed trailer should consider a door entry alarm. They are dirt cheap and take minutes to install. The noise they make is loud enough to deter most mortals and if nothing else, may attract someones attention. You can even step up in price and get units that will alert you via cell phone of an attempted entry and take photos. The best defense is a good offense. Sorry for your loss..:(
