.....so what does the car on straps have to do with building the tunnels?
It's not what you drive, it's how you drive. "Lap times matter"

I didn't necessarily care about the tunnels themselves, but was more interested in if the track config between T9 and T10 would be affected since it would probably need to be completely reconstructed.....and if so....does that mean that the existing track records would be nullified as they were when NHMS changed the south chicane?

The pic of the car on top of the tunnel...no idea. At least the pic of the car 'inside' the tunnel shows how wide & tall the new tunnel will be. The current tunnel is so narrow that my open trailer barely fits inside. When I've rolled through there in the past, the tires were riding on the walls. The old tunnel was just a corrugated tube with a bit of pavement at the bottom. Very narrow and impossibly low. That being the case, the old/existing tunnel was a secondary entrance. The main entrance to the paddock requires driving right across the racing surface at T10. That means that if you needed to leave early, either the track needed to shut down or you had to plan ahead and leave your truck/trailer outside the gate (and drive your car through the tunnel).

Looks like those that need to leave early won't have to plan to have their trailers out by lunch time!
