I am pretty close to buying a new racecar - SCCA-legal, showroom stock C. It has been registered in PA until now.
Do any of you know what MA requires ?
Following mods:
- race seat (but stock driver seat can be swapped back in within 5 min; passenger seat is stock)
- race belts (but stock belts are still in)
- welded 6pt cage
- catalytic converter is in, but muffler is replaced by straight pipe catback
- racing steering wheel without airbag
- passenger airbag removed (not visible from ouside)
- driver side window (glass and mechanism) removed, exists and can be put back in
Any advice greatly appreciated! I hear it's also legal to register vehicles in Maine through an agency - any experience with that?

As I see it he problems will be
- Muffler. If it's loud it will fail inspection. I had a muffler on my car and still got a hard time about the volume.
- Airbags. If the airbag lights are on in the dash it will fail. Even if you get the light to go out you may still fail on a visual inspection. Note: Simply removing the bulb won't work as the inspector will look for the light to come on when the ignition is set to the run position with the motor off.
Good luck.

Thanks Mick! May have to put a muffler in and a stock steering wheel, and 2 airbags before inspection then.
