Swaybar question
I'm new to COM, and after reading the rule book wasn't entirely sure: is an aftermarket FRONT sway bar allowed in SS category? The rules don't address it either way, and SCCA allows it for stock, hence my question.
Re: Swaybar question
No!
Any suspension mods move you to ST. With COM, stock means stock.

Except, it would seem, for braided stainless brake lines: COM seems to allow for stock, SCCA doesn't....cfossum wrote:No!

Re: Swaybar question
Interesting observation! My best guess is that brake lines could be considered a wear item?? Other wear items are ok too, like pads, tires. Hmm, but not bushings. Good catch! Anyhow, different sway bars will certainly make your car handle differently, and could give you an advantage over a stock car. SS rules list available mods. If it isn't specifically mentioned, it isn't allowed.

That's what I'll use for guidance - thanks. Based on this I may just keep my Mazdaspeed3 in SSA and wait on the swaybar.cfossum wrote:If it isn't specifically mentioned, it isn't allowed.

After breaking lose on 2A, I'm going the other way and adding the sway bars. And yes, I went in too hot.
The R-compound tires without good swaybar balance is not a smart idea. Ask Will who was behind me...it could not have been pretty.

Re: Swaybar question
The stock MS3 front sway bar is an excellent match to the stock suspension. I would not mess with it unless going to coilovers. Keep in mind that any air intake change (other than a drop in Filter) will move you to ST2.

Re: Swaybar question
The braided brake line is from when the Ford Mustang Cobra first came out. There was an issue on that car that needed to be addressed. The replacement braided brake line was the answer. I forget why all of SS got the allowance, I guess it was to be fair to all.
