ST4 Win for Jason Howes

Post by chaos4NH » Mon Nov 19, 2007 10:10 pm

Not sure how many of you are aware, but Jason dedicated his win at Lime Rock to his Dad who passed away on Thursday Morning. Best wishes to Jason and his family.

Jimmy Howes was great. I'll never forget the time when I tore around Big Bend (on track for once) and came across a Toyota Tacoma that looked like it was about to tip over. The driver turned out to be elder Howes, and I've had some fun conversations with him.

If I remember correctly, he used to do bike track days at NHIS as well. I recall thinking, "Holy crap! This guy's proving that you can never really stop having fun."

My thoughts are with you, Jason.

Jeez, Jason, I am really really sorry. Your father was an awesome guy and always very kind to me at the track. Much like Raj said, one of my fondest "racing memories" was seeing your dad tear it up around LRP in the Tacoma. I've told that story to way too many people. My condolences to you and your family. Congrats on the well deserved win.

Very sorry to hear of your loss, Jason. I remember talking to you and your dad a couple of years ago at LRP about cars, bikes, etc. I remember thinking that he was one of those positive spirits that it just feels good to be around.

Jason, very sorry to hear of your loss. It was great to see 3 generations of the Howes family visit the NHIS SCCA event a couple months back. :D

Congratulations on the (first ever!) trophy and fitting dedication. :salute:

Thanks guys. It's been a tough couple of days, but we're getting through it. Dad loved you guys, and always had a blast up at the track, racing cars, bikes, or just hanging around chatting and helping out. I'm glad he got to be a part of our little COM family for the past few years.

Besides being fun and interesting, James was a man of conviction. I heard a story about why he was possibly missing a finger or two. Wow. I'd explain the situation the way I understand it, if only I knew it were ok to. Sorry for the suspense, but it demonstrates conviction. Big time.
We were all upset to hear about his passing.

Jason. I also remember your Dad as a cool guy. I got to talk with him the time I was your instructor at NHIS.
