Window nets and PB

Can I use arm restraints instead of window nets for PB?

Some clubs do windows up, some down, some half up and then some have no rules. I'd like to keep my windows if possible.

out of curiosity, what does the com rule book say?

The book says that PB requires a window net but not on convertibles. I'm asking because convertibles, to the best of my limited understanding of the subject use arm restraints. Thus, my deduction that PB cars could possibly use arm restraints as a substitute.

When you asked me earlier about the rulebook were you being sarcastic?

Anyway, my question still stands. I'm trying to understand how my car will need a window net if I add fender flares so I can run the same size tires that STIs use. I guess I'm also asking why if a window in the up position is good enough for SPB why it's not for PB when times have been comparable for the majority of the drivers.

Dude, window up isn't good enough for SPB. I've never run an event where I didn't have both my front windows down.

Unless you meant to say "windows down" instead.

can we make rule changes in the middle of a season? or do you have to wait till the winter.

Like raj said sp is windows down, no restraints at pretty much every event. For prepared maybe the rule is like that because a net offers superior protection but is impractical on open cars? just a guess. If not then i guess it shouldnt make a difference.

make some custom t-tops and you can run net free

The Prepared rules are written to mandate the highest level of safety requirement for every car, regardless of configuration. Prepared is the "anything goes" class. Well, anything but nitrous, but you get the point. Cars which have a roof must use window nets. Cars that do not have a roof must use either a window net or arm restraints.

I know the t-top remark was said as a joke, or at least that is the way I read it, or maybe it was said as a jab to to rule. In either case, if someone were to cut t-tops into their roof to skirt a safety rule, the joke is on them.

I can see arm restraints being acceptable instead of window nets. But no rule changes are allowed during the season. Propose a rule change in November for next year.

My first ever track day was a combined boston BMWCCA (no space back then)/COM event. Although not a P car, I drove an 86 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z and it had T tops. I believe I was told to put them back on when I took them off.
