Hi:
I am installing a AutoPower roll cage in the Alfa, described as:
RACE ROLL BAR - With Options
This 4 point roll bar has a bolt-in diagonal cross brace and harness mount tube.
Autopower will select tube size and type for your needs.
Race roll bars are made with 1.750 x .120 DOM steel.
Cars weighing more than 3500 lbs. use 2" x 120 ERW steel.
4 point mounting with welded diagonal crossbrace.
All necessary installation and mounting hardware with back-up plates is included.
Optional bolt-in diagonal and harness tube can be ordered for this roll bar.
Pictured with Adjustable Seat Brace not included.
Quick and easy installation and removal of these race roll bar options allows for access to the back seat for street use.
Question is - in your honest opinion - how much padding do you need to cover the important areas? I ordered seven (7) x 3 ft piece of padding from DriverSupply and wonder if this will be enough. Also, how do you secure these? with regular zip-ties?
Thanks in advance for your input.

stephan,
IMHO I would suggest you look into the BSCI rated padding. Its much denser than the typical noodle foam that you find around.. its purpose is to absorb impact energy in an impact. the other stuff really just is soft enough to not make it hurt when you nail your head when getting in and out of the car.
You just need enough to pad any potential impact areas with your head when you are strapped in. . and your passenger too if you have a passenger seat. the self adhesive is pretty good, but a couple zip ties will surely keep them in place.
