Oh yeah I'll be there eventually Brendan. Thanks for the tips, I have plenty of elevation changes and various road conditions around me.

LOL I'm not going to put it up on an engine stand
I meant an engine dyno? It's what people do with race engines and it's not because they can't think of anything to do with their money. I would think it costs less then a weekend at the track. Anyway you go, good luck with it though..

I've decided I'm going to break it in on the dyne, better control, and probably going with Royal Purple engine break in oil, then switch 15w 50 for race / then 5w40 winter/daily Driving. It'll actually cost the same as track weekend 450.00.

Isn't it best to break in with conventional oil? The idea is to wear-in key parts like rings and bearings and synthetic won't allow any wear.

Royal Purple has a specific oil made strictly for break in. This is what I am going to use.

I have used Joe Gibbs oil for engine break-in and it has worked very well.

I've heard it argued both ways pretty vehemently on which oil is best. "Don't use synthetic" vs. "Synthetic is fine - the OEM's use it, why wouldn't you?" I know of cars broken in successfully using both dino oil or synthetic, so I pretty much think either will work as long as you break in the motor properly.

But for what it's worth, I used Brad Penn break in oil for the first half hour on the dyno (and the engine before that, the first 100 miles on the street) before switching to a good full synthetic.

Make sure to change your oil filter early too - you'd be surprised at the amount of crap that gets filtered out on a new engine...

Brendan , I've heard it too going like that, Makes my head spin lol On a side note, I'll have about 6 qts of royal purple break in oil left so if anyone needs it let me know.

I wanted to join you David with all your chains start nicknaming you alice n chains ;-)

After 1400 almost 1500 miles the motor hasn't consumed oil , and everything is looking good. The only issue I'm running into now is with the light weight flywheel /LTFT. I hear it's common for newer engines to throw CEL for Misfire too. I'm really trying for an October run but we shall see...

A light weight flywheel with 600 HP? Hhhhmmmm, I think I would have gone with something heavy. Not like you are competing in anything that will give you benefit of a wimpy flywheel :D

BTW, Oct 13 and 14 entries nearly maxed out.
