Fire suits
Re: Fire suits
"The marriage of a revolutionary GTex lightweight, super shiny outer layer and the soft knit Dupont Nomex interior makes a combination lighter and more breathable than most SFI-5 suits."
I like the idea of the "super shiny" top layer..
I am Puerto Rican after all.

Anything that gets Troy to change his underwear is a plus.6PAK72 wrote:I like the comfort and refreshability of underwear+2-layer, I found myself changing fire underwear on the second day of the summer events and felt dry and clean.

I've had my GF-545 for about 6 years now. Very happy with it.
Black is a good color for when you have to work on the car in a hurry between sessions. White is good for pay drivers.

So that's why you guys wanted Troy to be an instructor!
Re: Fire suits
Discontinued Sparco 3-layer one piece suit here. I got it for half price on closeout from Saferacer a few years ago. Look into a deal like that ($1300 suit for $ix and change). I'm happy with it, however I'd get the straight leg cuffs next time, as I don't really like how the elasticized cuffs ride up my calves when I'm strapped into the car working the pedals. I hope the nomex socks (get Oakley CarbonX b/c they're greatly thinner and cooler than regular nomex socks) will save my ankles. I always hang the suit up on a hanger outside in the wind/sun if I'm out of the car for a few hours between races. Airing it out reduces the stink factor. I've talked my wife into washing it in the bathroom sink with Woolite when she starts to complain about how bad it smells...2-3 times per season. If you don't want a 3-layer suit, I'd (again) highly recommend the CarbonX fabrics for their light weight and breathability.

Re: Fire suits
Check eBay for used suits as well. I got my suit from a guy in the UK that had all of the surplus from the old Honda F1 Super Aguri team. It was used one season by a mechanic, so 14 weekends or so. It was about 1/2 the price of a new one, and its badass because its an old F1 suit.
I found an old Juan Pablo Montoya suit on eBay once. I really wanted to buy that one. Hes such a jerk, but I love watching him race. I also saw a Tony whats-his-name 7-11 suit as well.
I find this one a little ironic. Its a Huggies Pullups sponsored Nascar team and the suit is signed by one of the crew, Eric Wettstain.

My old red suit is now quite orange, but my black suit is still pretty black.
Pink would be kind of cool, though!
