Who from COM is doing the LeMons Race at NHMS?
Re: Who from COM is doing the LeMons Race at NHMS?
Well, after some serious concerns, it looks like team Gnomentum will actually make it to the garage, the track,is, well, an entirely different matter.

Re: Who from COM is doing the LeMons Race at NHMS?
It was good seeing some of the COM guys at LeMons this past weekend. I saw Marc Epstein, Fred Ferguson, Will Martins, and Gordon Andrade. I wasn't able to make my way around to see everyone unfortunately.
Day 1 Patty McParland and I were trading places and had some great clean racing going on. Unfortunately, after my stint on day 1 3 of the 4 wheel studs broke off (no idea why) and our teammate was forced to pit. We were done racing at about 3 oclock on Saturday which ruined any chances of winning.
Day 2 we started the race well and everything was going well until our 4th driver got in the car and hit a cone in the middle of the track dead on. He could not do much to avoid it as there was a wall on one side and a car on the other so it smahed out bumper and then proceeded to take out ourserpentine belt and coolant line. Apparently there was no indication of the water flowing out of the engine and the gauge read normal so he drove it without coolant for 8 laps until the motor finally died.
This was team Massholes' second race. Our first race we got lucky and managed a 6th place finish with minimal issues. This race we must have finished somewhere in the 3/4 pack maybe mid pack range. The racing this time around was even better. There were a lot more cars this time around but it made it even more fun in my opinion. On day 2 I managed a few 1:26's and some 1:27's despite the traffic. Can't wait for next year. We are planning on doing Monticello, both NHMS', and NJMP.
Side note: my last event of 2011 I blew my m3 engine up.
Last event of 2012: our Lemon car blew up.
what does the last event of 2013 have in store?

That's why I have a coolant pressure sensor that feeds my dash and alerts when I'm under 6PSI of coolant pressure (it's typically at 18psi under normal conditions).savage217 wrote:Apparently there was no indication of the water flowing out of the engine and the gauge read normal so he drove it without coolant for 8 laps until the motor finally died.

Nick good shit. I didn't know who was in the mass holes car at the time. You guys were charging pretty hard it looked like. We have to get a beer at the next one.

Ya that's not a bad idea. Good thing is the motor is only 200 bucks lol. In my m3 I use with COM I have an aftermarket temperature gauge that works awesome. PSI gauge would have come in handy this time.jeffw wrote:That's why I have a coolant pressure sensor that feeds my dash and alerts when I'm under 6PSI of coolant pressure (it's typically at 18psi under normal conditions).savage217 wrote:Apparently there was no indication of the water flowing out of the engine and the gauge read normal so he drove it without coolant for 8 laps until the motor finally died.

Paddy,
We broke 3 studs day 1 which ended us at 3 oclock. We got all the way up to 5th place at one point but started around 88th day 2 because of the the studs. I believe the highest we got day 2 was 50 something. Then our engine blew lol. I stopped by your bay to say hi but you all were scrambling to fix the car so I didn't want to disturb you.

Re: Who from COM is doing the LeMons Race at NHMS?
last winter i built a MR2 for doing lemons events . the people i built the car for ended up running into carls RX7 .
the guy Steve that run into carl i gave him the name BALLER . why ? because i knew he was going to Ball up the car in some way .
Baller was not supposed to be in the car at the time he ran into carl but rick moroso spon and crapped him self and then pulled into the pits so that is when Baller got into the car .
this is a classic case of not watching the flagers and using your mirrors . it seams carl was behind him for a lap and a half but baller had no idea any one was there .

Re: Who from COM is doing the LeMons Race at NHMS?
question about how they dock laps ?
say you get docked 100 laps do you start the event and the 1st 100 laps not get scored ?
or do they take the last 100 laps you did away ?
any one know how they work that ?

Re: Who from COM is doing the LeMons Race at NHMS?
You start with negative laps and work your way up to zero, then start accumulating positive laps like everyone else. More than one cheaty car has broken early and finished with negative laps.962porsche wrote:question about how they dock laps ?

Basically if you have 100 BS laps, your chances of "winning" are zero, but it does nothing to affect your ability to race and have fun.
There have been a few cars in LeMons history that have been so un-lemony (a 2004 GTO, a newish RX-8) that they were given a billion BS laps, but allowed to run. The drivers were fine with that, and I think had a great time.

Re: Who from COM is doing the LeMons Race at NHMS?
ok thanks . the guys i built the MR2 for stopped into my shop today .we talking because the guy BALLER that ran into carls RX7 said he was the fastest driver if that car 13 laps from the end of the event was there fastest lap . if Baller turned fastest lap then the other guy driving that car must really suck !
he is a real bad driver so they were trying to figure out just who was really in the car that turned the fastest lap of that car #12 . then they got into how did the vw turn FTD with a 108. lap time ?
