How did you hear about COM?

I cant be sure where I first found COM, but its was through both a friend with the FFR forums while we were building the cobra and through the NE subaru club.

Most others that I have recruited are all by word of mouth (and fingertips....)

Another COM member (jsnow) posted on the Subaru forums about all the 'mad track time' that was available at Summit Point - so a bunch of us all signed up and made the journey - bringing all those Subarus that you all appreciate so much!!

I picked up a flyer at the World of Wheels in '98 or '99 (I think from you Don).

It sat in the glove box until I ran open track for the first time with the Shelby club at Lime Rock in 2000. That was like the first taste of heroin for me; after that, I joined COM and started abusing my car regularly for fun!

I found out about COM at World of Wheels. I spoke to David Foote for awhile. He convinced me that it was a great time. He was right.

I was signing up at the entrance for a BMW CCA school and picked up a COM flyer. I liked that there were all those track days. Back then, BMW only did one school a year. I think COM was also cheaper per day at the time, especially if I did 2 days in a weekend.

I found out about COM from my dad. I think I attended my first COM event at Bryar in 1982.

We still have a couple of mugs from the COM Turkey Trot Rally.

I guess you beat me Kevin, I came to my first COM event 9 years later in 1991. No internet then, just printed flyers. Dick Harding was buying steel to rebuild the front of his RX-3. I had the fortunate mis-fortune to screw up the order so he had to come back the next day. He was nice enough to bring one of the above mentioned flyers. So now I can say I've either driven at or instructed in at least one event every year since then. I'm not sure if I should be scared or proud of that.

Now here's another question - what percentage of active members were active members 5 years ago or 10 years ago?

VIR is awesome, having driven there twice BUT it is too far for COM! It takes me around 16 hours towing to get there. I would rather make Mt Tremblant a three day event if possible (That is if my new car is ready in time )

I went up because of a friend of mine's brother (Joe Traut)needed help. 1992 or 1993. Went to a few events a year (drove some, worked mostly) for the next few years and then was "recruited" by Mike French for Event Ops in 1995. I then worked (did not drive!) almost every event for the next 6 or 7 years. I think I only missed 2 events between 1997 and 2001.

Gordon Andrade. He and his Miata were at the first Mazda Rev It Up event. Naturally, I had to ask about the car and how he got on track with it. He told me about COM and the rest is history.

Add me to the list of people that found out about COM thru the likes of Will, Les, Lee and Gordon. Most of the blame probably lies at the feet of Will and Les though after listening to them talk about WG (I think) in the summer of '04.

I actually said, 'Yeah, not so sure the track would be my thing'. Boy, was I wrong!
