I have tried a few of the "racing" alu inexpensive jacks and the weak point seems to be the seals and the U-joint connector for the release valve.
I recently bought this BlackJack from Wally world for $65.Rated at 3klbs,weighs about 20lbs. and take 3-4 pumps for full rise, and gets under very low cars. It hasn't leaked, but the troublesome U-joint did get mangled the first time I let someone use it who did not know enough not to muscle it down tight.
I replaced the U-joint with a 1/4" S&K swivel and the jack is a joy to use now.
$65 for the jack,$10 for the swivel (and 15mins worth of welding) and it seems to be a keeper.

I have a Craftsman alu jack with a 1-year warranty. Some how it always breaks right before the warranty is up. Either a seal or a castor. I'm on my 3rd or 4th.

I love my harbor freight small racing jack. Its fast, light and hasn't let me down yet. Its around 80-$90 but I'm sure you can find it on sale.

Tore down the Craftsman unit. I found one torn O-ring and a couple with compression set. Got some new ones at Metric Screw and Tool, http://www.metricscrew-toolco.com/ . Metric O-rings....more China stuff! Just add new jack oil and go...

Nice to fix something for under $10
